LabVIEW 2012 PID and Fuzzy Logic Toolkit ReadmeVersion 12.0.0 June 2012 This file contains important information about the LabVIEW 2012 PID and Fuzzy Logic Toolkit, including installation instructions, behavior changes, and known issues. System Requirements Installation/Upgrading Instructions Version 2012 Change Known Issues Bug Fixes Accessing the Help Finding Examples Automating the Installation of NI Products System RequirementsIn addition to the system requirements for the LabVIEW Development System, the PID and Fuzzy Logic Toolkit has the following requirements: - LabVIEW 2012 Full or Professional Development System (32-bit)
- At least 75 MB of disk space
Refer to the LabVIEW Readme for additional system requirements and supported operating systems for LabVIEW 2012. Installation/Upgrading InstructionsYou can install all of your LabVIEW products—including the PID and Fuzzy Logic Toolkit—using the LabVIEW 2012 Platform DVDs. Refer to the LabVIEW Installation Guide on the LabVIEW Platform DVD 1 for installation instructions and system requirements. To request additional LabVIEW Platform DVDs, refer to the National Instruments website. Note If you purchased this product with an NI Software Suite or NI Product Bundle, use the installation media that shipped with your purchase to install this product. Version 2012 ChangeIn the PID and Fuzzy Logic Toolkit 2011 and earlier, the PID Structure Conversion VI converts controllers in Parallel form to Academic form using the following transformation for the integral value: Td = K * Kd. In the PID and Fuzzy Logic Toolkit 2012, the PID Structure Conversion VI converts the integral value using the following transformation: Td = Kd / K. To continue using the behavior from the previous versions, use the VI located at \examples\control\PID\subVIs\Convert PID Parameters.vi. Refer to the the Toolkits» PID and Fuzzy Logic Toolkit» PID Control» PID Algorithms» PID Topologies topic on the Contents tab of the LabVIEW Help for more information about different forms of PID controllers. Notice of Upcoming ChangesThe Advanced VIs were deprecated in the LabVIEW 8.2 PID Control Toolkit. The LabVIEW PID and Fuzzy Logic Toolkit still supports applications that use these VIs. However, note that a future version of the PID and Fuzzy Logic Toolkit might no longer support these VIs. National Instruments strongly recommends that you use the LabVIEW Control Design and Simulation Module to replace the functionality of these VIs. Refer to the National Instruments website at ni.com for more information about the Control Design and Simulation Module. Known IssuesYou can access the software and documentation known issues list online. Refer to the National Instruments website for an up-to-date list of known issues in the LabVIEW 2012 PID and Fuzzy Logic Toolkit. Bug FixesThe following items are the IDs and titles of a subset of issues fixed in the LabVIEW 2012 PID and Fuzzy Logic Toolkit. This is not an exhaustive list of issues fixed in the current version of the PID and Fuzzy Logic Toolkit. If you have a CAR ID, you can search this list to validate the issue has been fixed. ID | Fixed Issue | 177698 | Center of Sums, Center of Maximum, Mean of Maximum may give NaN result | Accessing the HelpThe PID and Fuzzy Logic Toolkit Help contains conceptual, how-to, and reference information about the PID and Fuzzy Logic Toolkit. Complete the following steps to access this help file. - Launch LabVIEW.
- Select Help»LabVIEW Help to launch the LabVIEW Help.
- Click the Contents tab.
- Navigate to the Toolkits» PID and Fuzzy Logic Toolkit top-level topic.
Finding ExamplesRefer to the labview\examples\control directory for example VIs that demonstrate common tasks using the PID and Fuzzy Logic Toolkit. You also can access these VIs by selecting Help»Find Examples from the pull-down menu and selecting Toolkits and Modules» PID and Fuzzy Logic Control in the NI Example Finder window. You can modify an example VI to fit an application, or you can copy and paste from one or more examples into a VI that you create. Automating the Installation of NI ProductsYou can automate the installation of most NI products using command-line arguments to suppress some or all of the installer user interface and dialog boxes. However, starting with the August 2012 releases (products using NI Installers version 3.1 or later), you may need to perform additional steps before or during a silent installation of NI software. If the NI product you are installing uses Microsoft .NET 4.0, the .NET installer may run before any NI software installs and may require a reboot before the installation of NI software begins. To avoid a .NET reboot, install .NET 4.0 separately before you install NI software. For more information, refer to the following KnowledgeBase articles: - For more information on silent installations of individual NI products, refer to KB 4CJDP38M, Automating the Installation of a Single Installer.
- For more information on silent installations of suited NI products, such as NI Developer Suite, refer to KB 4GGGDQH0, Automating the Installation of a Suited Installer.
- To determine what version of NI Installers your product contains, refer to KB 4CJDR18M, How Can I Determine the Type and Version of My National Instruments Installer?.
