Installation InstructionsNote To install the Sound and Vibration Toolkit or Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite on a Windows Vista/XP/2000 system, you must be logged in with administrator privileges. Complete the following steps to install the Sound and Vibration Toolkit or Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite: - Remove any previously installed versions of the Sound and Vibration Toolkit or Order Analysis Toolkit. Refer to the Uninstallation Instructions section below for information about uninstalling previous or current versions of the Sound and Vibration Toolkit or Order Analysis Toolkit.
- Insert the Sound and Vibration Toolkit or Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite CD into the CD-ROM drive of the computer. If the CD startup screen does not appear, use Windows Explorer to run the autorun.exe program located in the top-level folder on the CD.
- Follow the setup instructions that appear on the screen.
Uninstallation InstructionsYou must uninstall the Sound and Vibration Toolkit 4.0 or earlier and the Order Analysis Toolkit 2.1 or earlier before you install the Sound and Vibration Toolkit 5.0 or the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite 5.0. If you want to upgrade the Sound and Vibration Toolkit from a previous version and you have the Order Analysis Toolkit 2.1 or earlier, you must purchase and install the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite 5.0, because you cannot install the Sound and Vibration Toolkit 5.0 on a computer that has the Order Analysis Toolkit. Complete the following steps to uninstall previous versions of the Sound and Vibration Toolkit or Order Analysis Toolkit. - Open the Add or Remove Programs dialog box from the Control Panel.
- Select National Instruments Software and click the Change/Remove button.
- Under NI Products, select NI LabVIEW Sound and Vibration Toolkit or NI LabVIEW Order Analysis Toolkit and click the Remove button.
Redistributing Executable Sound and Vibration ApplicationsIf you are redistributing executables built with the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite or any of its components, you are required to purchase the appropriate NI Sound and Vibration Software Run-Time License. The part number for the NI Sound and Vibration Software Run-Time License is 779875-01. Accessing the HelpRefer to the LabVIEW Help, accessible by selecting Help»Search the LabVIEW Help in LabVIEW, for information about the Sound and Vibration and Order Analysis VIs. Help specific to the Sound and Vibration VIs is available from the VI and Function Reference»Toolkits»Sound and Vibration VIs book on the Contents tab of the LabVIEW Help. Help specific to the Order Analysis VIs is available from the VI and Function Reference»Toolkits»Order Analysis VIs book on the Contents tab of the LabVIEW Help. You must have LabVIEW 8.2.1 or later installed to view conceptual topics about order analysis functionality. Finding ExamplesLabVIEW examples for the Sound and Vibration VIs are located in the examples\Sound and Vibration folder of the LabVIEW installation directory. LabVIEW examples for the Order Analysis VIs are located in the examples\Order Analysis folder of the LabVIEW installation directory. You can modify an example VI to fit an application, or you can copy and paste from one or more examples into a VI that you create. You also can find example VIs using the NI Example Finder. Select Help»Find Examples to launch the NI Example Finder. You also can click the arrow on the Open button on the LabVIEW dialog box and select Examples from the shortcut menu to launch the NI Example Finder. Use the Browse or Search page of the NI Example Finder to find an example VI. On the Browse page, the Sound and Vibration VI examples are located in the Toolkits and Modules»Sound and Vibration folder. The Order Analysis VI examples are located in the Toolkits and Modules»Order Analysis folder. Known IssuesThe following list describes known issues at the time of release. Refer to the Knowledge Base at ni.com for the most recent information about known issues. - If you want to install the Sound and Vibration Toolkit 5.0 or Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite 5.0 and the System Identification Toolkit 3.0.0, you must install the System Identification Toolkit 3.0.1 before you install the Sound and Vibration Toolkit or Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite. If you already have the System Identification Toolkit 3.0.0 installed, you must uninstall any of the following software that you have installed: Sound and Vibration Toolkit or Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite, System Identification Toolkit, Control Design Toolkit, and LabVIEW SignalExpress. You then can install the System Identification Toolkit 3.0.1. Refer to ni.com for information about obtaining the System Identification Toolkit 3.0.1 upgrade CD.
- If you have the Sound and Vibration Toolkit 5.0 and multiple versions of LabVIEW installed, the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite 5.0 can only install in the same version of LabVIEW that the Sound and Vibration Toolkit 5.0 is installed in.
- To color the 3-D box decoration of the Waterfall and Octave Waterfall Graphs, you must paint behind the two transparent graphs. If the hidden graphs are colored, those colors will not be saved and will return to transparent the next time the VI is opened. Paint the bottom right corner of the decoration to ensure proper coloring of the decoration.
- The shortcut menu of the Waterfall and Octave Waterfall Graph might seem unresponsive when the VI is running. Continual selection of the menu item eventually executes the selection.
- If you write to two UFF58 (universal file format) files in a loop or in two different VIs without changing the names of the files, LabVIEW returns error -2570 and you cannot flush data back to disk.
- The default value of the reset control in the Order Analysis VIs is now FALSE. The default value in the Order Analysis Toolkit 2.1 or earlier was TRUE.
- You must have LabVIEW 8.2.1 or later installed to view order analysis conceptual topics in the LabVIEW Help. If you do not have LabVIEW 8.2.1 or later installed, you can navigate to the Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.2\help directory and double-click the lvoatconcepts.chm file to view the order analysis conceptual topics.
- If you have an application that uses the SVT Integration (frequency) VI that shipped with version 2.0 or 3.0 of the Sound and Vibration Toolkit, the application will be broken in this version of the Sound and Vibration Toolkit. The connector pane for the SVT Integration (frequency) VI changed between version 3.0 and version 3.1 of the Sound and Vibration Toolkit. To fix the application, replace the SVT Integration (frequency) VI with the SVL Integration (frequency) VI, located on the Spectrum Extended Measurements palette, and reconnect the input and output terminals.
