LabVIEW 2017 DataFinder Toolkit can also connect to NI DataFinder Server Edition, the DataFinder server for larger, centralized data management applications. System RequirementsTo create applications or shared libraries using LabVIEW 2017 DataFinder Toolkit, you must be a properly licensed user and have the following software installed on the host computer: - National Instruments LabVIEW 2017
- National Instruments LabVIEW 2017 DataFinder Toolkit

With this release, DataFinder Toolkit 2017 drops support for Microsoft Windows 7 RTM (with no service pack), Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003. DataFinder Toolkit 2017 and later will not install or run on an unsupported OS. You cannot deploy or distribute applications that use DataFinder Toolkit 2017 to an unsupported OS. Additionally, after installing DataFinder Toolkit 2017, you cannot use any installers built on this computer with any version of LabVIEW, LabWindows™/CVI™, NI TestStand™, or Measurement Studio on an unsupported OS. For more information about the changes to our OS support for 2016, refer to KB 79UC78LS, Why Does my LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, Measurement Studio, or TestStand Built Installer Fail on Windows XP/Vista and Server 2003?. 1 NI software installs VC2015 Runtime and .NET 4.6.1. Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 require Microsoft updates to support these items. Refer to Microsoft KB2919442 and KB2919355 for more information about how to install these updates. 2 NI software is signed with a SHA-256 certificate. Windows 7 SP1, and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 require Microsoft updates to support SHA-256. Refer to Microsoft KB3033929 for more information about how to install this security update. (LabVIEW 64-bit) LabVIEW 2017 DataFinder Toolkit is not supported in LabVIEW (64 bit). Redistributing and Activating Executable ApplicationsUse Application Builder to create installers to distribute stand-alone applications and shared libraries built with LabVIEW 2017 DataFinder Toolkit. Notes on DataFinder ToolkitFor the My DataFinder in DataFinder Toolkit 2017, any index files from earlier Toolkit versions must be regenerated. This occurs automatically when launching My DataFinder. Depending on how many files are to be indexed, this may take quite some time.
Known IssuesFirewall
The firewall displays a warning while LabVIEW 2017 DataFinder Toolkit installs because the DataFinder, which you use for searching and navigating in files, then starts. If you want to be able to use all the functions offered by LabVIEW 2017 DataFinder Toolkit, National Instruments recommends that you select "Do not block" for all programs listed. This also applies when you want to evaluate LabVIEW 2017 DataFinder Toolkit. Refer to ni.com/info under the info code expm69. Installation
LabVIEW 2017 DataFinder Toolkit and DIAdem Version 10.0, and later versions, install and use a shared software component (Desktop DataFinder - My DataFinder) that is updated when you install LabVIEW 2017 DataFinder Toolkit. When you uninstall LabVIEW 2017 DataFinder Toolkit, the current version of the shared component remains. This is intentional and has been tested extensively.
LabVIEW 2017 DataFinder Toolkit, DIAdem Version 9.0, LabWindows/CVI Version 8.1, DataFinder Server Edition 1.0 and LabVIEW Version 7.1, and later versions, use a shared software component (USI) that is updated when you install LabVIEW 2017 DataFinder Toolkit. When you uninstall LabVIEW 2017 DataFinder Toolkit, the current version of the shared component remains. This is intentional and has been tested extensively. DataPlugins
Use a DataPlugin built with LabVIEW DataPlugin SDK only with the same LabVIEW version with which you created this DataPlugin. Using configuration methods for DataFinder Server
If you use the methods of the DataFinder toolkit to configure a DataFinder server, you must restart the "NI Skyline Service Manager" Windows service. Automatic Installation of NI ProductsYou can automate the installation of most NI products using command-line arguments to suppress some or all of the installer user interface and dialog boxes. If the NI product you are installing uses Microsoft .NET 4.6.2, the .NET installer may run before any NI software installs and may require a reboot before the installation of NI software begins. To avoid a .NET reboot, install .NET 4.6.2 separately before you install NI software. For more information, refer to the following KnowledgeBase articles: - Refer to KB 4CJDP38M, Automating the Installation of a Single Installer for more information on automatic installations of individual NI products.
- For more information on silent installations of suited NI products, such as NI Developer Suite, refer to KB 4GGGDQH0, Automating the Installation of a Suited Installer.
- Refer to KB 4CJDR18M, How Can I Determine the Type and Version of My National Instruments Installer? for a description of the version of the NI Installer your product contains.
