To use code that you created with LabVIEW 2009 or later with LabVIEW Communications System Design Suite 3.0, use the NI Code Conversion Utility for LabVIEW Communications System Design Suite 3.0 to convert VIs, projects, and libraries into files that are compatible with the LabVIEW Communications System Design Suite.
If you are using LabVIEW Communications System Design Suite 2.0, refer to the NI website for a guide to migrating code to the LabVIEW Communications System Design Suite 3.0.
System RequirementsLabVIEW Communications 3.0 has the following requirements:
- Pentium 4 G1 equivalent (Intel i5 equivalent or higher recommended)
- At least 45 GB of disk space
- 8 GB RAM
- .NET Framework 4.6.2
- 1024 x 768 resolution (1366 x 768 or higher recommended)
Supported Operating SystemsLabVIEW Communications System Design Suite 3.0 supports the following systems:
- Windows 10 (version 1803)/8.11/7 SP12(64-bit)
- Windows Server 2012 R2 Update1
- Windows Server 2008 R2 SP12
Note On Windows 8.1/Server 2012 R2/Server 2008 R2 SP1, some features, such as local compile, Optimized FPGA VIs, simulation of FPGA code that includes Xilinx IP or HDL code, are not supported because these features require the Xilinx compilation tools which do not support these OSes. Using these features on these OSes may result in unpredictable results.
1 NI software installs VC2015 Runtime and .NET 4.6.2. Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 requires Microsoft updates to support these items. Refer to Microsoft KB2919442 and KB2919355 for more information about how to install these updates.
2 NI software is signed with a SHA-256 certificate. Windows 7 SP1, Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1, and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 require Microsoft updates to support SHA-256. Refer to Microsoft KB3033929 for more information about how to install this security update.
Installation InstructionsNI automates LabVIEW NXG installation using NI Package Manager. Visit ni.com/info and enter the Info Code NIPMDownload to download NI Package Manager. Refer to the NI Package Manager Manual for more information about installing, removing, and upgrading NI software using NI Package Manager.
Real-Time Hardware CompatibilityThe RT controller you purchase with LabVIEW Communications System Design Suite 3.0 comes with a compatible version of NI Linux Real-Time.
To use an RT controller that you did not receive with LabVIEW Communications System Design 3.0, update the real-time controller to a compatible version of NI Linux Real-Time. Refer to the NI website for a guide to updating your real-time controller for use with LabVIEW Communications System Design Suite 3.0.

Documentation Known IssuesOnline Node Reference Topics Don't Reflect Real-Time Compatibility—The Compatibility tab for nodes that run on a real-time Linux operating system do not reflect that compatibility. However, when you target a VI to a real-time controller in SystemDesigner, you only have access to nodes that can run on the real-time controller.
Bug FixesYou can Access the software bug fixes list online. Refer to the NI website for an up-to-date list of bug fixes in the LabVIEW Communications System Design Suite.

Automating the Installation of NI ProductsYou can automate the installation of most NI products using command-line arguments to suppress some or all of the installer user interface and dialog boxes.
If the NI product you are installing uses Microsoft .NET 4.0, the .NET installer may run before any NI software installs and may require a reboot before the installation of NI software begins. To avoid a .NET reboot, install .NET 4.0 separately before you install NI software.

Using NI Software with Microsoft Windows 8.1When you install NI software on Microsoft Windows 8.1, you will notice a few additional tiles in the Apps view, including shortcuts to NI application software products such as NI LabVIEW, Measurement & Automation Explorer (NI MAX), and NI Launcher.
